Iron Medallions
At virtually every iron pour across the country souvenirs are also cast that are generally small-ish in size and given away to anyone who contributes to the event. They are usually called "pigs" and can be of any size and/or shape. Around 2003 (First Iron in Chelsea, NYC) I began making mine round to emulate NYC taxi medallions. It is at this time I coined the term molten iron performance as a means to differentiate between a working iron pour and an event which is purely for spectators and performance purposes. I believe I am also the first one to use the term medallion, rather then pig, for these types of castings.
